What Adwalton Means to Me 8 of 17

8. Julie Garth

I came to Adwalton through joining the Drighlington Dragons rounders team.

I joined the committee as a member of the team to liase. The sense of community and friendship made me love it enough I stay when I sadly left the Dragons.

The committee and the cricket team have made me feel welcome and a valued member of the club. Meaning that when I made the decision to stop playing the thought of not being a part of the committee wasn't an option.

My highs of been at Adwalton have been the charity days, matches and the unwavering support from all. As well as many a dunked nights with fantastic friends.

My lows have been leaving the team, Lockdown and not being able to spend time with everyone.

For me our presentation nights, charity days and the comedy night have been some of my best times. Drinking, dancing and spending time with people who I have met through the club that mean the world to me.

My funniest memory is playing rounders with the cricket lads, them all diving about and being over enthusiastic and competitive. Drunken singing and dancing after impromptu supposedly quiet nights and losing badly at cards.

My best games played at the club have been when it have been when family and friends joined in. These are treasured times that gives the club the sense home.

My hopes for the future are to continue to be involved with the club and enjoy my time with everyone when we are allowed to socialise again.
