What Adwalton Means to Me 6 of 17

I Joined Adwalton in 2011 (I think, might have been 2010) after not getting the game time at my old club. I chose Adwalton because my dad had played there and I played under 13s at Adwalton for a couple of seasons and really enjoyed it. I also scored for the 1st team when I was about 13 as I would be at the games anyway watching my dad play. After signing for Adwalton, I could tell pretty much straight away that it was the right decision, great set of lads and have loved every minute of it since. So much so that just a couple of years after joining I moved house into Drig and within walking distance of the club.

There have been many highs and lows during my time here, one of the best days came in the 2018 season on the last day when we needed a win to get promoted. The game went right down to the wire, but we did it and the celebrations that day will stay with me forever. The feeling when we took the wicket that guaranteed us promotion was unbelievable, such a great moment, and it was made better by the fact that I took the catch. My second favourite memory also comes from the 2018 season when we played the new team in the league Jer Lane away, they came into the league massive favourites and we were huge underdogs going into that game. But not only did we win, we won by 8 wickets and it probably should have been 10 wickets. The effort and determination from the lads from the moment we started warming up was amazing, we took that buzz out onto the field and managed to bowl them out for 156, then in reply we were 138 for 0 when I stupidly ran myself out.

I've made some great friends during my time here and hopefully there's many good seasons to come. Fingers crossed for another promotion in the not too distant future, hopefully for both 1st and 2nd team. And what a celebration that would be if we can get both teams promoted in the same season.
