What Adwalton Means to Me 5 of 17

5. Julian Hall

I first came to Adwalton when i started playing as a junior for Drighlington ARLFC, who were based at Adwalton at the time. It wasn't long before i was roped into playing cricket, starting with under-12s, then U-13s, U-15s and U-17s, captaining the team alternating years. Colin Laycock was our coach, and i think the highlight has to be a victory over Drighlington away in the U-15s (I think Colin still has the ball somewhere!). I also played a handful of seasons in the second XI, but haven't played for a number of years now.

The friendly atmosphere of the club has meant i've remained a regular face in the clubhouse. While i was a junior my parents got involved in the running of the club, both spending a number of years on the committee. I joined the committee ten years ago and took over as Chairman in 2016.

As for the future, i hope the club continues to be a family-oriented, welcoming place for people to play sports and socialise, as it has been for the nearly 30 years that i've been coming here.
