Adwalton beat Hepworth Idle in friendly

Adwalton played Hepworth Idle in a friendly on Saturday 15th April and got the season off to a winning start. The game also allowed us to get a look at our new overseas signing Andrew Stolzenburg, who has come over from Australia to play for Adwalton this season.

The game was a 40 overs a side and batters having to retire at 35, Adwalton won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The first 20 overs Adwalton where on top taking wickets at regular intervals and not allowing Hepworth Idle to get off to a good start, with Vinit Patel and Andrew Stolzenburg impressing.

The next period Hepworth Idle managed to score a bit more freely and there was some indiscipline bowling with wides and no balls adding to the total but wickets did continue to fall and Vinit Patel came back on to claim the last 2 wickets.

Adwalton was set 111 to win and got off to a flying start with Matthew Donohoe dispatching the continuous supply of short balls to the boundary and retiring within 5 overs. Tommy Lindsay came in next but unfortunately didn't last very long bring Vinit Patel to the crease.

After the quick start scoring slowed but runs where steadily being accumulated. Only 1 more wicket was lost in the chase and Vinit Patel also passed 35 when scoring the winning runs well in side the 40 overs.
