Below is the latest from the Bradford Cricket League regarding the first weeks fixtures that they have decided postpone due to the recent poor weather that has effected teams preparing the wickets for the new season.
The management board have decided following visits to a number of grounds and a dialogue with club officials that the opening week's fixture programme will be re-arranged for dates later in the season.
Although our original intention was not to postpone the board have listened to the major concerns expressed by clubs who have been unable to carry out the required preparation on their grounds.
We accept that some grounds are likely to be ready, however we have concluded that this is the minority.
In making this decision earlier than previously indicated we hope that this will prevent avoidable damage being caused to grounds while they are in such a saturated state.
We thank all those clubs who have contacted us to appraise us of their position.
The season will now start on Saturday 28th April and we will announce revised dates for all the postponed fixtures next Wednesday.
It should be noted that there is no alternative to playing these re arranged fixtures on a Sunday later in the season.
